RUTHERFORD, Napa County — Napa County opened a construction procurement for additional restoration along Bale Slough and Bear Creek, part of the wider Rutherford area’s work to improve wildlife habitat and reduce riverbank erosion.
The county’s official May 1, 2026 procurement notice sought qualified contractors for Group B of the Bale Slough–Bear Creek Restoration Project, with an engineer’s estimate of $1,664,000. The closing date for bids was June 4, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.
What was in the proposed scope?
The project calls for stream and native-plant restoration, grading, wood-based habitat structures, irrigation systems, vegetation maintenance and monitoring. The broader project is intended to improve floodplain function and limit erosion-related impacts on nearby land.
What does a closed bid mean?
The procurement page is marked closed. That means the bid deadline passed; it does not by itself confirm the contract was awarded, construction began or work was accepted. The engineer’s estimate is not the final spending amount.
Residents who want the latest project status should consult the county’s awarded contracts and public board records. Construction access through private property is not automatically open to visitors.
